Rurouni Kenshin - The Anti-Dub is a Rurouni Kenshin (2023 anime) parody series created by Animassacre Entertainment, co-written by VegetaSasuke0 & UnforgivenRonin.

The history of Rurouni Kenshin The Anti-Dub began all the way back in 2012, as it was always a concept that parody artist VegetaSasuke0 wanted to do, but never found the right time or cast to do it, as ideas were floating around after plans for his & fellow parody artist HN5353 failed to deliver on the completion of their other Rurouni Kenshin series "Rurouni Kenshin Sagas" even after their planned redux as well as a plan for a series known as "Samurai X Sagas". On March 14th, 2014, a script had been officially started, although it was never completed. The story would have followed the format of the original Rurouni Kenshin 1996 anime, but with a much faster pacing, as well as a lot of harder hitting jokes than the first episode of Rurouni Kenshin Sagas. This original series was meant to debut on the "AnimeParodiesInc" channel that was known to host VegetaSasuke0's School Days The Abridged Series, but due to other priorities, the parody sat in limbo.

As time went on, Sony announced the plans for a remake anime for Rurouni Kenshin that was slated for 2023, which sparked interest in VegetaSasuke0 to revisit the concept of this parody, but instead of reusing the original script, decided to take the concept head on with fresh set of eyes, enlisting fellow abridger/parody artist UnforgivenRonin as a co-writer, as well as voice actor for the project. The two parody artists would go on to complete watching the series, brainstorming ideas each week as the anime would be airing. By July 25th, 2023, the script of the first episode would be completed, with several other scripts following.

The plot is similar to the original Rurouni Kenshin anime & manga, however with a change of dialogue to streamline things, as well as poke jokes & satirizing certain plot points. Kenshin Himura is looking to redeem himself, wandering the country in hopes of making people's lives better.

Rurouni Kenshin - The Anti-Dub is edited in Vegas Pro 13, although rendered in Vegas Pro 19 due to some limitations with Vegas 13. Some visuals were edited in Gimp.

Episode 02 -

  • Episode 01 of the series uses footage of the Rurouni Kenshin 1996 anime in an attempt at critiquing the reboot.
  • The series uses Kaoru's alternate dub name "Kori" as a reference to the original Sony Pictures (Point 360) Dub, which feels like a satire of it's own.
