My Hero Abridged is an abridged parody series produced by JoyRide Entertainment, based on the anime and manga My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi. It is the third abridged series helmed by writer/director Ivan LeRoy and his most acclaimed. It is ongoing and currently in the middle of it's second season.

My Hero Abridged deviates heavily from the original source material with a new plot, darker tone, westernized settings, some localization in character aliases and shifts in main character focus. For example, following the events of the first season, Bakugo becomes the main character in Season 2. Some characters, such as Kirishima and Todoroki, are referred to as "Rusty" and "Chilli".

Plot Overview

(THIS SECTION CONTAINS SPOILERS)

The series begins with flashbacks that explain there used to be social tensions between people with and without quirks. A young quirkless Midoriya vows to put an end to this conflict by becoming a great hero, but his plans are cut short when he is diagnosed with colon cancer following an injury from a fight with his rival Bakugo. Years later, Midoriya has given up on his dream and has narrowed his focus on just surviving. He is attacked by a villain and rescued by his childhood idol All Might. After a brief exchange, All Might reveals that he too suffers from cancer (of the liver), and the two develop a bond. However, Midoriya learns that the similarities end there, as All Might's terminal illness has rendered him cruel and jaded to the safety of civilians; refusing to stop the same villain from attacking the city again. Midoriya springs into action and finds Bakugo in danger. He saves him despite their history, inspiring All Might to intervene and save the day.

All Might offers to mentor Midoriya but the two instantly clash. After receiving All Might's power, Midoriya leaves and applies to UA Academy, but finds his newly acquired quirk dangerous and unusable. To ensure Midoriya doesn't leave him again, All Might blackmails him, claiming that he stole his quirk. The next day, All Might sneaks in and takes all the newly admitted students to an abandoned building to fight each other. He pits Midoriya and Ochako against Ida and Bakugo to all the newly formed friends' dismay. After being scolded and lied to by several of UA's professors (Mike and Eraserhead), All Might's conceit pushes Ida into a manic state of despair and threatens to blow up the school. Meanwhile, Midoriya and Bakugo have a brief fight before reconciling with each other's past. All Might shows immediate signs of remorse for his actions but is confronted by Bakugo who claims he will carry on Midoriya's legacy while putting an end to All Might's. He attempts to apologize to Midoriya and inform him of his past and previous mentor, Nana Shimura, but ultimately lets his anger get in the way, scaring him off.

Midoriya decides to take his entire class with him on his "Make a Wish Foundation" trip to Universal Studios, but is immediately ambushed by a mob of villains seeking out All Might and the "kid he favors". However, All Might has been excommunicated from the school and the super hero community at large and is unaware of the events transpiring. Yomama elects to create a diversion and send Ida out to find a hero to help them, but he initially refuses, having become completely disillusioned from previous events. Yomama reminds him why he's a hero to begin with and also admits to having a crush on him. Ida changes his mind and the students help him break through the mob of villains. In the events of the attack 13, Levity Chicken and Eraserhead are all presumably killed, pushing Midoriya into a fight with the villains' ring-leader, Hands All Over. Just as the two being to clash, All Might arrives (having been found by Ida), brutally dispatching one of their powerhouses and scaring the rest of the villains away.

All Might is gravely wounded and believes he is finally dying. He apologizes to Midoriya and thanks him for being an inspiration to him in his last days. However, Midoriya reveals that Hands All Over got him with his "death touch" and dies. In a flash forward sequence it is revealed that everyone except Midoriya survived the attack and All Might has redeemed himself to the public. In a post-credits scene, Bakugo reveals that Midoriya's death by the villains absolves him of his crime against Midoriya and can now become the great hero he wished for.
