History[]
Hbi2k began his first series, Berserk Abridged, in 2007.
After finishing Berserk Abridged, Hbi2k eventual started a new series called Gantz: The Abridged Series. This time, he recruited fellow abridgers Cassius614 and AngelElric to help voice the female characters. During his time abridging Gantz, he hosted the first abridging tournament known as the "Pass Gas" contest, where abridgers needed to abridge a series starting with the letter "G", as well as finish within the cutoff date given to the community.
At the beginning of 2009 after finishing Gantz, Hbi2k began a new series based on Vision of Escaflowne. After the series finished, Hbi2k has retired from making personal projects, but still voiced in DBZ Abridged and other Team Four Star projects, as well as occasional guest appearances in other series. At some point Hbi2k became CEO of Team Four Star, as well as having a 10% ownership in the company.
As of 2022, Hbi2k has become dedicated to streaming on Twitch.
End of Dragon Ball Z TAS & TFS Departure/Resignation[]
On Jan 18, 2019: TFS released an update video entitled "DBZA: What's Next? | TFS Update". In it, they mention that due to 'inconsolable differences', Hbi2k left TFS.
Takahata101 explained on a reddit response that Hbi2k wanted to do some more serious things that "doesn't need the guise of a colorful 80s cartoon for it's audience" as he stated on his own stream. He wanted to do articles and "lecture" type things that tackle subject like grief, cheating, family structure, and the like. Takahata felt that as a comedic entertainment company, said content didn't really fit with TeamFourStar. [1]
When asked on Twitter, Hbi2k said "there were no hard feelings" and that he wishes success for Lanipator, KaiserNeko, and TFS. [2] However, according to a stream that was done by Hbi2k, it seemed there were harsh feelings between him and the group. [3] Hbi2k claimed to have been the driving force behind attempting to complete DBZ Abridged, but that KaiserNeko and Lanipator were lazy, rather than just being "burnt out". Hbi2k would later go on to even write a blog post about his time as CEO of TeamFourStar, as well as imply that he ended up "tanking" the company [4]
