Before ''CG: ATR'' came to be, much of the cast had previously worked together on an abandoned project called ''Zulu''. ''Zulu'' was set to be a machinima made in ''Halo: Reach'', and StarKhan and [[Copley]] had written a full season of episodes; they, along with DemonicLemmings, Phyato, seasikberry, LadyLuther, Fri Ying Pan, and Fridgeon, had recorded the voices for much of it. However, due to disappointment with the scripts' sophomoric humour and a lack of time for production due to the members going to various universities, the project was eventually abandoned.

StarKhan began working on ''CG: ATR'' in May 2014, where he wrote the first draft of episode 1 during a slow day at school. Upon completion, he showed it to DemonicLemmings and Copley, who helped revise and critique his writing. Due to their previous work in machinima, the group decided to write several episodes ahead of time in order to allow the voice actors more time to get in and record, and also to lower the frequency in which they would need to record. However, this process was abandoned as it caused inconveniences when re-records needed to be done, and frequently hindered script re-writes. Casting was done fairly early on, with DemonicLemmings already cast as Lelouch and other roles being filled over time.

The first episode's initial voicing was finished in September 2014, and editing began immediately. A month later, work stalled, as DemonicLemmings (Lelouch) became busy with university classes, and had not been able to re-record. Due to a lack of voice actors, Copley went to the AbridgedForums and Voice Acting Alliance in order to fill additional roles. Alifluro was cast as Villetta in November, and the group had to recast Suzaku due to the original voice actor not remaining in contact. After a month of holding open auditions, [[spritestuff]] was cast in the role on December 1. Production resumed in mid-January 2015 after a long hiatus, and the first episode was released on February 24, 2015.

Before the show[]

Before CG: ATR came to be, much of the cast had previously worked together on an abandoned project called Zulu. Zulu was set to be a machinima made in Halo: Reach, and StarKhan and Copley had written a full season of episodes; they, along with DemonicLemmings, Phyato, seasikberry, LadyLucifer, and Fridgeon, had recorded the voices for much of it. However, due to disappointment with the scripts' sophomoric humour and a lack of time for production due to the members going to various universities, the project was eventually abandoned.

Development[]

StarKhan began working on CG: ATR in May 2014, where he wrote the first draft of episode 1 during a slow day at school. Casting was done fairly early on, with DemonicLemmings as Lelouch, StarKhan as Lloyd, Copley as Rivalz and Gottwald, MissManagedRage as C.C., LadyLucifer as Kallen, seasikberry as Ohgi and Bartley, and Phyato as Tamaki.

After a month of holding open auditions, spritestuff was cast in the role on December 1. Production resumed in mid-January 2015 after a long hiatus, and the first episode was released on February 24, 2015.

Despite various statements that episode 2 would be out in May 2015, the group ran into unexpected problems with the script, as well as availability of voice actors, which pushed the episode back considerably. Seasik was replaced in the role of Ohgi by eagle8burger in August 2015, due to Copley, StarKhan, and seasik himself finding the character more suitable for eagle8burger. In November 2015, Copley posted an update video explaining the reasons for the second episode's absence, which were largely attributed to him and lack of free time due to working full-time and attending university. Episode 2 was released on December 30, 2015.
